Transforming Neighborhoods

To advance our mission to transform neighborhoods, L+M provides financial support to organizations working in targeted communities where we work. Our primary focus is on the South Bronx and East New York/Brownsville neighborhoods. The following is a summary of the programs we support:

Arts education through the Young Artist Institute, which trains youth ages 3 – 21 in music, dance, theatre, visual arts, and computer programming.

Internships and externships for youth grades 9-12 to operate two farms and farmers’ markets, provide gardening assistance at community gardens across East New York, and learn about nutrition and healthy eating.

Job training, placement and financial literacy services for residents of the NYCHA Soundview Houses.

College prep program in East New York serving youth grades 9-12 to help them achieve their post-secondary goals.

Expansion of literacy programming to the South Bronx, including training for parents to lead literacy programs at schools, libraries and community organizations.

Partnerships between corporate sponsors and South Bronx high schools to provide college and career-readiness to underserved youth grades 9-12.

Information technology training, job placement, and financial literacy services for South Bronx residents.

Marine and environmental science and stewardship programs serving Rockaway youth.

Elementary and high school afterschool programs serving South Bronx residents ages 8 to 19.
