Transforming Neighborhoods

To advance our mission to transform neighborhoods, L+M provides financial support to organizations working in targeted communities where we work. Our primary focus is on the South Bronx and East New York/Brownsville neighborhoods. The following is a summary of the programs we support:

South Bronx expansion for college access program focused on getting high-potential, low-income middle and high school students into four-year colleges.

Youth development programs for court-involved Brownsville residents, including community benefit projects, anti-violence programming, and paid internships.

Expanding educational offerings of under-resourced K-5 public school in South Bronx with goal of improving student behavior and achievement.

K-5 afterschool program providing academic enrichment and baseball instruction to South Bronx students.

Establishment of urban farm in Brownsville that will employ residents and operate weekly farm stands, afterschool and nutrition programming.

School-based reading center in Hunts Point section of South Bronx providing one-on-one literacy tutoring to elementary school students.

Green collar job training for unemployed adults with focus on building systems and construction.
