Essex Crossing

New York, NY

Essex Crossing heralds a new beginning for the Seward Park Urban Renewal Area and represents a true partnership between public and private interests. L+M, BFC Development Partners, and Taconic Investment Partners with Grand St Settlement and B&B Supportive were awarded the sites after a competitive RFP process and expect to begin construction on 3 of the 9 parcels in Spring 2015 and the last parcel by Winter 2021. The project, which is located at the intersection of Delancey Street and Essex Street on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, will include 1,000 units of residential and for-sale housing, of which 50% will be permanently affordable to a wide range of incomes and seniors across each of the 9 proposed structures. Also included in the approximately $1.1B project is over 700,000 sf of commercial space and at least 60,000 sf of community facilities with anticipated users to comprise a bowling alley, movie theatre, park, newly designed Essex Street Market, New York’s own Warhol Museum, incubator program space, major grocery store, below-ground retail corridor connecting 3 blocks, and many others.
