Columbia Hicks is a mixed income development offering both for-sale (Columbia Commons) and rental units (Columbia Hicks) located in the Columbia Street Waterfront District in Brooklyn, south of Atlantic Ave. The development is a capstone of several years of investment and rehabilitation in the district that has seen rapid growth in restaurants, shops, and cultural outposts. The development closed on financing in an especially challenging market environment, and yet achieved a highly successful rent up and sell out. The transformation of the site of the former Hamberger Christmas Display Factory and adjacent vacant lot has resulted in 125,000 SF of residential space across studios through four bedrooms. The project was awarded the 2011 Jack Kemp Workforce Housing Models of Excellence Award.
