Communications Intern – Summer (Paid/In-Person)

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 40 hour per/week

Hourly Rate: $25/hour

What You’ll Do

The Communications team develops and implements communications programs to build employee engagement and increase alignment with corporate strategic priorities. The team oversees internal communications channels such as the company intranet, external channels such as social media and the website, and produces marketing materials.

L+M offers a comprehensive intern program.  During the ten-week program, interns will gain exposure to the jobsite, means and methods of construction, tour several jobsites, attend a lunch with company leaders, and make a presentation on lessons learned to senior management. Specific duties will vary depending on the team but include tasks similar to these:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Draft content for the intranet, social media, and website, focusing on capturing the 2023 intern experience
  • Work with the communications team on the website redesign project
  • Design graphics and marketing materials
  • Provide general support to the team

  • Graphic design experience a plus (Adobe Photoshop, Canva, or similar)

Salary Range: $96,000.00 to $115,000.00 Annually

L+M Development Partners LLC., an established residential developer/builder/manager, has an exciting opportunity for a Communications + Marketing Manager to support the development and implementation of the overall communications strategy, with a focus on the digital strategy, alignment with and execution of corporate priorities and creation of content for internal and external channels. If you’re a creative storyteller that can develop and implement strategies that engage our audiences across multiple channels, L+M is the right place for you. This position reports to the Director of Communications + Marketing.

Areas of Responsibility:

  • Develop and implement the digital strategy, with a focus on social media and website development.
  • Work with departments and business lines to further their objectives through the above channels.
  • Oversee L+M’s social media channels, including LinkedIn and Instagram, and maintain a monthly social media content calendar, focused on engagement and delivered on a timely schedule.
  • Maintain company website, including content creation and page refreshes; spearhead design efforts.
  • Project manage new initiatives and collaborate with stakeholders across the business (senior team, business lines, and departments).
  • Generate and edit engaging content for internal and external audiences that aligns with strategic objectives, including developing and creating content for social media channels, web, marketing materials, the company intranet, and more.
  • Manage and contribute to the editorial content calendar for all company communications channels.
  • Carry out brand strategy and messaging in collaboration with the Director of Communications + Marketing.
  • Edit copy written by others by revising, rewriting and reorganizing for clarity, comprehension, use of language, sequence of thought, logic, flow, consistency and effectiveness.

Preferred Background & Skills:

  • Demonstrate understanding of and ability to deliver effective storytelling across multiple channels that supports and strengthens our brand.
  • Experience in social media management and developing strategies that engage and retain audiences.
  • Superior writing and editing skills with versatility in writing styles including promotional, journalistic and editorial.
  • Proven ability to distill complex, technical and/or jargon-heavy language to create clear, concise, compelling and universally understandable content.
  • Must be collaborative and able to work effectively across departments; able to execute deliverables and projects from beginning to finish.
  • Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Experience with web-based communications and basic content management software, Photoshop, InDesign, Canva, and Powerpoint.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, English, Marketing or related field.
  • 4+ years related work experience, including social media management and writing for web, print, presentations, brochures, and other materials.
  • Experience working in real estate development, property management, and/or construction is desirable but not necessary.
