– Emily Cheng, Summer 2025 Communications + Marketing Intern and 2025 Kenyon Scholar
L+M’s 2025 summer intern cohort experienced the company’s mission of ‘working together to build stronger communities’ firsthand when they toured various developments and completed a volunteer experience.
The interns visited the Alafia development in East New York, Brooklyn; the Knickerbocker Village in Two Bridges, Manhattan; Sendero Verde, Harlem; and Beach Green Dunes III in Far Rockaway, Queens.
While the interns visited Far Rockaway, they also volunteered at The Campaign Against Hunger’s farm at Arverne East. TCAH is a nonprofit that strives to end hunger and support health for everyone in NYC. Together, the interns assisted with tasks such as distributing compost and filling garden beds to help prepare the farm for future growth. Overall, the tours and volunteer experience were a rewarding initiative that gave the intern cohort a deeper understanding of L+M’s mission and how their work builds stronger communities.
