St. Barnabas Wellness Care and Affordable Housing is a two-site mixed-used project in the Belmont neighborhood of the Bronx developed by L+M and Hornig Capital Partners in partnership with St. Barnabas Hospital. The 450,000 SF complex is designed address many of the challenges facing low-income residents in the Bronx by bringing critical health care services, affordable housing, job creation, outdoor fitness areas and healthy food options to the community. The buildings include 314 units of affordable housing. Two-hundred nineteen units will be affordable, available to low-income households at 57% of AMI and 95 units will be set aside for formerly homeless households through NYC Housing & Preservation Department’s Our Space and HFA’s MRT programs. A 57,000 SF medical space will be leased to St. Barnabas Hospital, a long established healthcare provider in the Bronx since 1866, and will include an ambulatory care center, primary care offices and a wellness center. The retail component is anticipated to be a daycare, pharmacy and healthy café, and the complex will also include photovoltaic solar panels and a rooftop farm.
L+M is supporting a program that is delivering 500 meals a day to frontline workers at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Belmont neighborhood of the Bronx. In addition to delivering meals, food trucks are providing tapas for staff at lunchtime once a week, and 800 meals will also be available for staff to take home at the end of their shift.
