L+M is proudly partnering with PENCIL, a New York nonprofit with a mission to connect NYC public school students to success. They do this by helping students build relationships with working professionals, create awareness about a variety of career pathways, and develop students’ skills in areas necessary for future employability and success. Together, L+M and Pencil have created a year-long program for 30 seniors at Murray Hill Academy in Manhattan where they will explore and learn about the many facets of real estate development in NYC.
The program curriculum is being developed by committed L+M/C+C staff members, and each month a few members of our team will host workshops with the students. During the sessions, the students will learn the ins and outs of real estate development, construction, and property management. Additionally, our staff members have volunteered to mentor the students throughout the year by sharing their insights and experiences in the industry.
The mentors, students, and program support team met for the first time last month at our Park Avenue office to get to know each other, discuss their hopes for the program, and talk about the things they are looking forward to over the coming year, as well as the challenges they are anticipating. The program will culminate in mid-2020 with the students presenting their capstone projects to the L+M and C+C volunteers.
A big thank you to all the students taking part in the program, the L+M mentors, and the team members who are facilitating the program. We look forward to working together this year!
