Expanding Opportunity Together as NYCHA Scholars Visit Sendero Verde

L+M Development Partners welcomed participants from the NYCHA Real Estate Scholars Program for an in‑depth tour of Sendero Verde. The visit offered scholars a firsthand look at one of the nation’s largest Passive House projects and the many components that shape a complex, community‑focused development.

This session marked the second time L+M has partnered with the program. In Fall 2025, the company hosted a youth cohort composed primarily of high school students. This visit brought together the program’s adult cohort, including over 20 NYCHA residents ages 19 to 57, from multiple communities across New York City.

The NYCHA Real Estate Scholars Program is a six‑week, no‑cost educational initiative offered through NYU’s Schack Institute of Real Estate in partnership with the Public Housing Community Fund. The curriculum introduces participants to the fundamentals of real estate development through case studies, site visits, and a culminating development proposal presented at the end of the course. Scholars explore a wide range of topics, including real estate history, design and development, underwriting metrics, valuation, feasibility analysis, sustainability, and property and asset management.

Supporting the NYCHA Real Estate Scholars Program helps us deepen our investment in the communities we serve, and we’re grateful for the partners who stand with us in creating meaningful pathways for NYCHA residents.
