Arverne Residents Celebrate Their Community Leaders

Arverne View Community Leader Gigi Knowles accepts her award with General Manager John Garcia.

The Arverne View Tenants Association, which represents more than 3,000 residents at their apartment complex in Far Rockaways, recently recognized its neighbors and peers who exemplify the Tenant Association’s motto: ‘tenants together’.

Alicia Mazyck, Vice President of the Arverne View Tenants Association, said that the awards were a way of acknowledging the efforts their peers make every day to support the wider community: “We wanted to recognize the leaders in our community who we, as residents, can always rely on. These individuals are always ready and willing to help at different events and activities at Arverne View without being asked”.

In addition to the six residents and one group being acknowledged for their efforts, the Tenants Association also took the unusual step of acknowledging the onsite C+C Management team which oversees the building’s day-to-day operations. Ms. Mazyck explains, “John Garcia [the Arverne View General Manager] takes a diverse community of people who live in a large residential complex and somehow makes everything run smoothly.

“He and his team are always available and have gone so far as to change their schedules to better suit the residents. Additionally, John takes extra care when managing residents’ concerns and dissects each and every issue in detail so he can find the best outcome. The team works hard to make sure that the residents feel safe and secure, they are responsive and supportive, and ultimately that’s what makes our community a fantastic place to live.”
